Within the district no passwords are required for most of the databases. For “at home” use all require logins and passwords, which can be obtained from each campus librarian. If you are a district employee not connected to a specific campus, contact Library Services (397-8190). Many campuses have additional subscriptions to meet specific campus needs but those will not be highlighted here.
Teachers use EBSCO to Further Their Education

Anna Margaret Skinner, librarian at Warren High School, reports that several Warren teachers are using the EBSCOHost Professional Development Collection for their course work in graduate school. Online databases are available 24 hours a day, making them an invaluable tool for finding information on many topics, including book reviews and articles on current educational trends.
Neff MS Teachers Receive Database Review
Neff Middle School librarian, Kathy Lindley, provided a review of the online databases during a recent professional development day. After the instruction teachers worked with members of their department to develop ways to incorporate the databases in their instruction. Ceiling mounted LCD projectors were installed in every classroom at Neff during January 2009. These projectors will allow teachers to project database articles from their computer to the screen for whole-class viewing.

Kemp Ridley Sea Turtle Research at Burke Elementary

Fourth grade students at Burke Elementary used Gale and Worldbook Online databases for a research project. They researched the Kemp Ridley Sea Turtles and wrote information on note cards. Students will use their newly gained knowledge as they create projects about the sea turtles.
